A poet, a playwright, a painter, a lyricist, a novelist - a man of letters, Rabindranath Tagore also made a revolution in the dance scenario of Bengal as well as in India. He was a great personality, who experimented with most of the art forms. Rabindranth was a philosopher and commentator of his own works.
Whenever he dealt with any art form he was not only working with those practically, but also was speaking, writing, criticizing and analyzing on these in his own way. In furtherance of which, new styles, forms and even idioms emerged. He was an admirer of Indian classical dances. In his understanding, he realized the barriers in those. He tried to break the boundaries and come out with a new dance idiom retaining the Indianness' in it. Like his song tradition, the Rabindrasangit, his dance form has become popularly accepted as the Rabindranritya after his demise. Bengal, Tripura and Bangladesh are the three strong bases where Rabindranritya is a much coveted dance practice.
A Rabindranritya Production based out of a few songs of Tagore that depicts the scorching Summer that slowly transcends to the refreshing Monsoon.
Ekti gondusho jol" is based on the Dance Drama 'Chandalika', this is an excerpt where the basic human sentiment is explored. The equality in humanity is depicted through the famous lines of Tagore 'je manaba ami sei manaba tumi kanya' (the human that resides in you is the same as the human that resides in me) and this is shown by accepting a handful of water from a low caste girl (daughter of a Chandal). This dance-drama is evergreen for the issues of untouchability still lingers in the Indian society even till this date and this was Tagore's approach at doing away with this monstrous practice. He used Buddhism as depiction of the 'je manaba ami sei manaba tumi kanya', but aimed to arouse the humanness in every human being to usher in equality.

This Rabindranritya production takes on the journey of the seasons from the summers to the spring with each song depicting the colour of nature that is well reflected in the mood of the songs, colour changes in the costume and movements and the expressions of the artists.
